The story of the hidden gem of Playa del Carmen

Our story

A courtyard passed on by word of mouth

Zitla was born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, over 25 years ago, from a simple idea: honest food and treating people like friends. We are a 100% Mexican house, and this courtyard on Calle 12 turns 10 years old as the best kept secret of Playa del Carmen: burgers and burritos made with care, murals on the walls, live music and the hidden gem people recommend in a whisper.

On Calle 12 Norte, between avenues 15 and 20, we built a courtyard with a palapa, a tree dressed in lights and walls that slowly filled with art signed #ZITLA. Here the locals bring their visitors, and the visitors come back before leaving town.

Three things we never compromise

One, real comfort food: burgers built in house, mega sized burritos and wings sauced to order. Two, the atmosphere: hand painted murals, warm lights and live reggae that turns dinner into a plan. Three, the service: we welcome you as a friend and see you off as a regular. The 4.9 on TripAdvisor with over 5,000 reviews confirms it.

A house with a family

Zitla Playa is part of Grupo Restaurantero Oceanic del Caribe, a restaurant group rooted in the Riviera Maya. We share one conviction: hospitality shows in the details and the product is never compromised.
